GAIL Q 1 Turnover increases 25 % to 8,867 crore,Net profit increases 11% to 985 crore

New Delhi, July 27, 2011. GAIL (India) Limited registered an increase of 25% in Turnover (net of Excise) of 8,867 crore in the 1st quarter of FY 2011-12 against 7,096 crore in the corresponding previous year quarter. The Profit Before Tax increased by 9% to 1,443 crore in the 1st quarter of the current financial year against 1,322 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous year. The Net Profit during the 1st quarter of FY 2011-12 increased by 11% to 985 crore against 887 crore in the corresponding previous year quarter.

GAIL has shared 682 crore towards LPG subsidy in the first quarter of the current financial year as compared to 445 crore during the corresponding previous year quarter.

During the quarter, the net sales from Natural Gas Trading increased by 32 percent to 7,205 crore as against 5,452 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The revenue from Natural Gas Transmission during the first quarter of the current financial year has increased by 5% to 939 crore as against 897 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. The net sales from LPG and other Liquid Hydrocarbons business during the first quarter of the current financial year have increased by 4 percent to 814 crore as against 781 crore in the corresponding quarter of previous year. The revenue from LPG transmission remained flat at around 114 crore.

The increase in revenue is mainly due to higher volume of Natural Gas Transmission and increase in price of APM gas and LPG and Liquid hydrocarbons.

The Natural gas transmission during the first quarter of the current financial year was 117.16 MMSCMD as against 116.18 MMSCMD in the corresponding quarter of the last year. The quantity of polymer sales remains flat to 88 TMT, LPG and other Liquid hydrocarbons sales were 349 TMT as against 356 TMT in the corresponding quarter in the previous year. The LPG transmission during the first quarter of the current financial year was 817 TMT as against 788 TMT during the corresponding quarter in the previous financial year. The quantity of polymer production was 109 TMT as against 99 TMT, LPG and other Liquid hydrocarbons production were 350 TMT as against 361 TMT in the corresponding quarter in the previous year.
