Torbjörn Wahlborg new head of Vattenfall Nordic, Vattenfall AG

Release Date: 2009-11-24

Torbjörn Wahlborg, aged 47, with more than fifteen years’ experience at Vattenfall, has been appointed new head of Vattenfall Nordic and Senior Executive Vice President at Vattenfall AB
Torbjörn Wahlborg comes most recently from his post as head of Vattenfall’s operations in Poland.

“Through the appointment of Torbjörn Wahlborg, Vattenfall’s crucial Nordic operations gain a results-oriented executive with major technical skills and proven leadership qualities. His task will be to continue to develop Vattenfall’s operations, particularly focusing on the switch to renewable energy,” says Lars G Josefsson, President and CEO of Vattenfall.

“Vattenfall is seen in Poland as the company that put the climate issue on the agenda. My experiences from Poland, with its extensive dependence on coal, have made me humble but also full of confidence in the potential of technology and people’s willingness to make changes. I’ll be taking these important experiences with me to Vattenfall Nordic. I look forward to shouldering broader responsibility in my role as head of Vattenfall Nordic, which will encompass customer contacts, a large number of employees, several different types of energy, and distribution networks,” says Wahlborg.

Torbjörn Wahlborg holds an engineering degree from Chalmers University of Technology. He will be entering his new post on 1 January 2010, replacing Hans von Uthmann.
