Parliament of Indonesia

Following the Declaration of independence of the Republic of Indonesia on August 17, 1945, the country’s subsequent task was to make a state administration based on Pancasila and the 1945 Constitution.

Considering the importance of a parliament for a democratic country, the president, prior to the establishment of the same based on the results of a General Election, ran his administration with the assistance of a National Committee. In the respect, on August 29, 1945, the President installed Members of Indonesian Central National Committee (KNIP) at the Playhouse in Pasar Baru, Jakarta. That date is now commemorated as the anniversary of the Indonesian Parliament.
