GAIL second quarter PAT up 19%, Turnover up 20% - GAIL first half PAT up 15%, Turnover up 22% , GAIL

GAIL (India) Limited registered a turnover (net of Excise Duty) of Rs. 9,699 crore in the second quarter of FY 2011-12, a 20 percent increase over the turnover in the corresponding period during the last financial year. GAIL’s Net Profit for the second quarter of the FY 2011-12 increased by 19 percent to Rs. 1,094 crore against Rs. 924 crore in the corresponding period previous year. The Gross Margin increased by 12 percent to Rs. 1,792 crore in the second quarter of the current financial year against Rs. 1,607 crore in the corresponding period last year. The Profit Before Tax increased by 9 percent to Rs. 1,568 crore in the second quarter of the current financial year against Rs. 1,433 crore in the corresponding period last year.Segment-wise Revenue
During the second quarter of the current financial year, revenues from LPG and Liquid Hydrocarbons business increased by 34 percent to Rs. 988 crore as against Rs. 737 crore in the corresponding period of last year. The net sales from Petrochemicals business have increased by 30 percent to Rs. 938 crore as against Rs. 721 crore in the corresponding period of last year. The Net revenue from Natural Gas Trading during the second quarter of the current financial year increased by 20 percent to Rs. 7,575 crore as against Rs. 6,290 crore in the corresponding period of the last year. Revenue from Natural Gas Transmission business have increased to Rs. 980 crore as against Rs. 979 crore in the corresponding period of previous year. The revenues from LPG transmission during the second quarter of the current financial year was Rs. 110 crore as against Rs. 114 crore in the corresponding period last year.
Physical Performance
During the second quarter of the current financial year, the Natural Gas sales were 83.64 MMSCMD, up by 6 percent from 79.04 MMSCMD during the corresponding period last year. During the second quarter of FY 2011-12, the petrochemical production was 111 TMT, up by 19 percent from 93 TMT in the corresponding period last year. The polymer sales during the second quarter of the current financial year were 129 TMT, an increase of 21 percent from 107 TMT in the corresponding period in the previous year. The LPG transmission during the second quarter of the current financial year was 796 TMT, as against799 TMT during the corresponding period in the previous financial year. The LPG and Other Liquid Hydrocarbon production during the second quarter of the current financial year was 379 TMT up by 12 percent from 337 TMT in the corresponding period last year. The LPG and Other Liquid Hydrocarbon sales during the second quarter of the current financial year were 378 TMT, up by 9 percent from 347 TMT in the corresponding period last year. The Natural Gas transmission during the second quarter of the current financial year was 118.62 MMSCMD, an increase of 3 percent from 114.89 MMSCMD in the corresponding period last year.
Half Yearly Results
GAIL (India) Limited registered a turnover (net of Excise Duty) of Rs. 18,566 crore in the first half of FY 2011-12, a 22 percent increase over the turnover in the corresponding period during the last financial year. GAIL’s Net Profit after tax for the first half of the FY 2011-12 increased by 15 percent to Rs. 2,079 crore against Rs. 1,810 crore in the corresponding period previous year. The Gross Margin increased by 10 percent to Rs. 3,433 crore in the first half of the current financial year against Rs. 3,110 crore in the corresponding period last year. The Profit Before Tax increased by 9 percent to Rs. 3,011 crore in the second quarter of the current financial year against Rs. 2,754 crore in the corresponding period last year.
Segment-wise Revenue
During the first half of the current financial year, revenues from Natural Gas Trading increased by 26 percent to Rs. 14,781 crore as against Rs. 11,741 crore in the corresponding period of the last year. The net sales from LPG and Liquid Hydrocarbons business during the first half of the current financial year have increased by 19 percent to Rs. 1,802 crore as against Rs. 1,518 crore in the corresponding period of last year. The net sales from Petrochemicals business have increased by 16 percent to Rs. 1,574 crore as against Rs. 1,358 crore in the corresponding period of last year. Revenues from Natural Gas Transmission have increased by 2 percent to Rs. 1,919 crore as against Rs. 1,876 crore in the corresponding period the previous year. The revenues from LPG transmission during the first half of the current financial year was Rs. 224 crore as against Rs. 228 crore in the corresponding period last year.
Physical Performance
The Natural Gas transmission during the first half of the current financial year was 117.90 MMSCMD, up 2 percent from 115.54 MMSCMD in the corresponding period last year. The Natural Gas sales during the first half of FY 2011-12 were 83.14 MMSCMD, up 1 percent from 81.94 MMSCMD during the corresponding period last year. During the first half of the current financial year, petrochemical production increased by 15 percent was 220 TMT, against 192 TMT in the corresponding period last year. The petrochemical sales during the first half of the current financial year were 217 TMT, increased by 11 percent from 195 TMT in the corresponding period in the previous year. The LPG transmission during the first half of the current financial year was 1,613 TMT, up by 2 percent from 1,587 TMT during the corresponding period in the previous financial year. The LPG and Other Liquid Hydrocarbon production during the first half of the current financial year increased by 4 percent to 729 TMT, as against 698 TMT in the corresponding period last year. The LPG and Other Liquid Hydrocarbon sales during the first half of the current financial year increased by 3 percent to 727 TMT against 703 TMT in the corresponding period last year.
