CPC Launches a New Pipeline Section in Kazakhstan, Caspian Pipeline Consortium
Release Date: 2010-06-21
CPC has completed, tested and commissioned a new 130 km section of the oil pipeline from Tengiz (Atyrau Region, Republic of Kazakhstan). The new section is designed and built to follow a safer bypass route in lieu of the older 116 km section built in 1991 located too close to the Caspian Sea and crossing areas characteristic for regular spring floods.Commissioning of the new pipe section will increase reliability and safety of CPC pipeline operation and ensure operating capacity required to support pipeline operations after CPC Expansion up to 67 MPA. The Expansion Project includes further upgrades of some sections of the pipe.
CPC Pipeline system is the largest oil export route from the Caspian to global markets. This mainline pipeline connects fields in Western Kazakhstan with the Russian Black Sea coast. Russian-origin crude is injected into the pipeline system at Kropotkin Pump Station in the Krasnodar Krai. CPC Marine Terminal is equipped with Single Point Moorings for safe tanker loading offshore, including bad weather conditions.
