GDF SUEZ is recognized as the world's most valuable utility brand by the "Brand Finance Global 500" global brand ranking. The GDF SUEZ brand, present and active on five continents, was valued at more than USD 13 billion
The "Brand Finance Global 500" report is published annually and studies the effect of branding on a company's net financial value.

According to the ranking compiled by Brand Finance, the leading international brand valuation consulting company, GDF SUEZ also ranks second in the energy sector, after Shell, and sixth amoung French companies.

Brand Finance first issued its global report on the relative equity of the 250 top global brands back in 2007. In 2008, the scope of the study was expanded to include the 500 top global brands. Brand Finance uses the "royalty relief method" to determine the value of a company's brand in the context of its total company value. Each brand has been accorded a brand rating : a benchmark study of the strength, risk and future potential of a brand relative to its competitor set, as well as a brand value.
