Egypt choosing nuclear safety operator

Egypt has received bids from 6 international consulting companies ready to offer their services to set up its nuclear safety system. Hassan Younes, Minister of Energy and Electricity of Egypt, says that the bids were offered by companies from Canada, France, Germany, South Korea, UK and the USA. These companies were chosen from a list of 17 companies that were bidding in April 2008.
The successful candidate will be in charge of unfolding a nuclear safety system that includes monitoring of the NPPs. Besides, the placed order implies implementation of a quality management system. The final objective is a system compliant with the world standards to provide safe construction of the first NPP in Egypt.
