Expectations of a moderate wage settlement

Release Date: 2009-05-15

Wage negotiations in the Norwegian petroleum industry begin Monday 18 May. OLF expects a moderate settlement.
The coordinated settlement between NHO (The Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise) and LO (The Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions) / YS (The Confederation of Vocational Unions) have underlined the need for a moderate settlement. We expect this to be true also for the petroleum sector, says Jan Hodneland, Chief Negotiator in the Norwegian Oil Industry Association (OLF).

NHO and LO/YS agreed on an increase of 1 NOK per hour, and an additional1 NOK for low income groups.

OLF will meet with the three trade unions Industry Energy (IE), the Norwegian Union of Energy Workers (SAFE) and Lederne for decentralized negotiations. IE and SAFE are also a part of the coordinated settlement between NHO and LO/YS.

The parties will negotiate adjustment of the wage rates in the offshore-related collective wage agreements.

The negotiations cover around 8000 offshore workers.
