Norwegian Ministry of Finance

The Norwegian Ministry of Finance is responsible for all financial matters in the country, including budgets, taxation and fiscal policy. It is led by Kristin Halvorsen.

They are in charge of the Government Pension Fund – Global, formerly the Government Petroleum Fund, into which the surplus wealth produced by the Norwegian oil and gas industry is deposited. It is estimated to be worth around $325 billion. The revenue comes from state taxes, as well as the State’s Direct Financial Interest (SDFI), and the dividends paid by partially state-owned StatoilHydro,
